TO MARLEY AND MEMBERS OF BASTARD NATION

Bastard Nation members,

I received this email today from the executive committee from Bastard Nation.

June 5, 2008

Dear Amy:

The Executive Committee of Bastard Nation: the Adoptee Rights Organization has voted unanimously to remove you from the Legislative Committee effective immediately.

Bastard Nation has a long time policy of not accepting support from the adoption industry. Without saying, we do not advocate for the adoption industry or any adoption agency or professional within it. You have done both. As an private individual you have the perfect right to do so, but as a member of BN’s Legislative Committee your duty is to uphold BN principles, practices, and integrity.

Your relationship with Abrazo as documented in your own blog, “Regarding Bastard Nation’s Withdrawal” posted on June 2, 2008 at 3:51 pm and your actions on the original DAR Action List clearly demonstrate a lack of understanding of and concern for Bastard Nation’s mission, activities, and ethics, as well as the security and integrity of the original DAR. We are astounded that you failed to grasp the ethics and motives of an adoption agency funding the DAR protest, much less their procedure of funneling funds sent to them into their own 501(3)(c) account. This funding was done without the knowledge DAR sponsors and leaders, and would never have been approved had they been informed of the scheme.

We take this step to insure the security of Bastard Nation correspondence and the upholding of our principles and rules.

I WAS NOT ASKED ANY QUESTIONS FROM MARLEY. MARLEY AND NO OTHER MEMBER OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ASKED ME MY SITUATION ON THIS. THE PROTEST IS NOT RELATED TO THE BASTARD NATION LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY COMMUNICATIONS FROM THEM AT ALL. I WAS SUMMARILY DISMISSED WITHOUT BEING GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEFEND MYSELF.

I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FUNDRAISING ON THE EVENING OF MAY 28TH. THE NEXT MORNING ON MAY 29TH IS WHEN I MENTIONED IT.

Elizabeth was adamant about Amy’s innocence in being aware of the fundraising and even sent me the message on how she told her just a few days ago and wanted me to pass it along:

Have you posted something on your blog about the Rainwater case?

I don’t know why I had NEVER heard anything about this poor child until I stumbled across this story today but I am haunted by it now…

If you’re not familiar with it either, I posted links under the grandparents’ thread on our forum, since this child’s adoptive mom’s parents sued for custody of the missing boy, today.

Yikes. Adoption sure can be scary stuff.

P.S. But on a more positive note, at least Abrazo’s clientele is putting their money where their mouths are… see the “Open Adoption Rocks” thread, under Abrazo News, to see our good news for the Adoptee Rights Protest in NOLA!

ALL I DID WAS HELP THREE PEOPLE FIND THEIR FAMILIES ON THEIR FORUM. I WOULD NOT ACCEPT MONEY FROM THEM PERIOD. I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE RAISING OF FUNDS PERIOD. I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW THERE WAS AN ISSUE UNTIL SABINA AKA BABY LOVE CHILD HAD A HISSY FIT.

JUST SO THAT YOU KNOW IT WAS THE ADOPTIVE PARENTS AND THE NATURAL PARENTS OF THE AGENCY THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS FUNDRAISING. I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND IT WAS WITHOUT OUR CONSENT. HOWEVER THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED WITHIN THE ADOPTEE RIGHTS PROTEST COMMITTEE. IT ONLY INVOLVED THE ADOPTEE RIGHTS COMMITTEE.

THE SHAME IS ON MARLEY AND SABINA. THESE ARE YOUR LEADERS BASTARD NATION. IS THIS WHERE YOU WANT YOUR ADOPTEE RIGHTS ORGANIZATION TO GO?

I don’t understand the fundraising issue, but I do understand injustice. That’s crap, Amy, absolute crap. You do nothing but fight and publicize the issues at hand (critical issues), and no one…and I mean no one…should EVER disrespect you. Your efforts are strong, thorough, and pure.

If Abrazo or BN or anyone else did something wrong, how is it assumed that you did? I have many professional memberships and nonprofit memberships, and I sure hope I’m not held accountable for errors/mistakes made by other member.

CRAP…it’s just CRAP! You are way above this sort of stuff. You have way too much class, compassion, and heart to be party to this garbage.

Amy, you’re awesome! Don’t let the assholes get you down.
